Watauga River Retreat offers a charming and convenient basecamp for your High Country adventures. Located directly across the road from the Watauga Gorge River Access, this single-level cabin is perfectly positioned for tubing, kayaking, or fly fishing enthusiasts.
The home greets you with a short flight of steps leading to a covered front porch, where rocking chairs and a dining table invite you to relax and take in the serene surroundings. Inside, the updated kitchen and living room provide a welcoming space for gathering. The kitchen features modern amenities and bar seating for four, while the cozy living area boasts a gas fireplace, a large-screen TV, and comfortable seating for unwinding after a day outdoors. A laundry center, neatly tucked into a closet, adds to the home’s convenience.
The cabin’s thoughtful layout includes two wings, each with a queen bedroom and a full bathroom. One wing also features a twin-over-twin bunk bed, and the other includes a twin bed with a pull-out trundle, making it ideal for families or groups of friends.
With its central location, Watauga River Retreat puts you within easy reach of the High Country’s attractions. Appalachian State University is just a 20-minute drive away, while Appalachian Ski, Beech Mountain Ski, and Sugar Ski are each about 35 minutes from the cabin. For a taste of local history and charm, the original Mast General Store and its annex are less than 15 minutes away, as is Over Yonder, a favorite spot for dining.
