Description
Touch of Grey is our second river front mountain cabin. Enjoy beautiful river views in a quiet natural setting where you can enjoy activities in the slow-moving water of the South Fork New River, watch the wildlife from the rockers on the deck. About 5 minute drive to Blue Ridge Parkway and 10 minutes to downtown West Jefferson for shopping and dining. Great hiking trails abound.

Single level living in this cozy, riverfront cabin. The living room offers leather furnishings, a wood stove, and mounted flat screen TV with YouTube TV and streaming abilities. The kitchen has granite counters, stainless appliances, and a Keurig for that first cup of the day. Two barstools are at the counter, with 2 additional chairs in the bedrooms if there is a full house. A full size washer and dryer set are tucked in the closet for easy access.
Although the home offers single level living, there are 11 steps from parking area down to the home, and additional stairs to access the river. You should not plan on using this space if your mobility is limited.

- This home allows up to 2 mature, well-trained dogs with an additional pet rent of $25 per pet per night plus tax. Pets other than dogs are not permitted.
- Firewood for the wood stove may be added at the time of booking under “Additional Fees” after entering payment info or by reaching out to us more than a week in advance. You receive two wrapped bundles and a fire starter for $25 per night.
- Guests may wish to bring along a bluetooth speaker for music.
- The neighborhood road is gravel and is on a slope. You should have no trouble driving in standard car if you are familiar with gravel; otherwise, please bring 4WD or AWD. If there is snow or ice on the ground 4 wheel drive would be required. Motorcycles may not travel well on the loose gravel road.
- 4WD/AWD and/or chains recommended during winter (Nov-March) for all homes. Travelers visiting during the winter months where inclement weather may be possible should come prepared with an AWD or 4WD vehicle, and chains may also be required if it snows. No refunds, allowances, or date changes will be given to travelers who are not prepared with the proper vehicle, as outlined in the Rental Agreement.
- Guests returning to Touch of Grey may receive a discount of 5%, not to be combined with other discounts to the room rent.
- Touch of Grey is next door to Knotty Pine and they share river access through the new stone steps into the New River, located in front of Knotty Pine.
- This property has one exterior security camera monitoring the stairway to the main entry way and is mounted to the right of the front door above the window. No security cameras monitor the interior of the property or common gathering areas.
CANCELLATION POLICY -
Bookings canceled 30+ days before arrival will receive a refund of the deposit.
Bookings canceled between 15-29 days before arrival will receive a refund of half of he deposit.
Bookings canceled within 14 days of arrival are not entitled to a refund unless the reservation dates are rebooked to another guest.
All bookings are subject to a $50 cancellation fee.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Touch of Grey on the New River. The location is wonderful—it's a treat to be able to walk from the cabin down the yard to the river. The weather was excellent for floating. The place feels pretty secluded, but you are not far from West Jefferson, with its grocery stores, restaurants, & shops. The cabin is cozy, modern, & very clean. There's a great porch overlooking the river, two bedrooms on either end of the interior, a small but adequately stocked kitchen, & a bath with jacuzzi tub (nice!). There's one AC unit that worked well, plus ceiling fans that were really helpful for cooling the bedrooms. The folks at Blue Ridge rentals were wonderful to deal with, very accommodating & responsive. We would definitely recommend the company & the Touch of Grey cabin.- Laura, Posted: 08/31/2023

we booked the house for memorial day weekend for kayaking. we had a great time on the river but to anyone who's kayaking this section be prepared for low bridges that you will not be able to pass under. The house itself was very nice and had a beautiful view of the river. The house had all the immensities needed for cooking and grilling.
