The whole place felt cozy, the views where amazing and the location is perfect

The St. John’s location we stayed at was, in short, spectacular from the views to the amenities. Our group was looking for a quick getaway to hit the slopes, and it was great being able to relax in the hot tub afterward. The place was very spacious, and the views were absolutely stunning.
A few minor callouts to note before booking: if you’re hoping for flexibility with checkout, rental properties typically aren’t very flexible with timing, so keep that in mind. Additionally, the downstairs bathroom shower was clogged. Since we were only there for two nights, we ended up using the upstairs shower instead, which was a bit disappointing but not enough to ruin the trip.
Overall, I’d rate it a 3.5-4/5. A pretty good experience for the cost, with a few minor inconveniences that were manageable for a short stay.

The view was wonderful and the porch was the perfect place to enjoy it from. The house had everything we needed and felt like home and we did not want to leave. Location was great for visiting nearby towns of Boone, Banner Elk, Blowing Rock! Now if you could just figure out how to connect the top deck and the bottom deck without having to go around ;-)

We truly had a good time staying at this location. The forwarning of the steep driveway definitely needs to be emphasized on bc it was super steep but it worked out. But the overall stay was very relaxing and peaceful. The home is so beautiful and is in such a good location. The view was one of my favorite things, especially the wildlife (deer) that just walk around with no concern.
I would recommend doing some more lighting or decoration in the downstairs hallway area BC it was konda sketchy at first, but other than that, our stay was perfect! The process was a breeze and so convenient for our travels.

We had a good time staying at this property. They gave us starter stuff to start with like toilet paper, dish soap, laundry pods, dish pods, a few trash bags so we didn’t have to buy any. The hot tub was nice because it was covered so while it rained there we could still enjoy the hot tub. The beds were very comfy. The view was beautiful! There were some Christmas decorations on the mantle not put up yet and some areas I could tell didn’t get cleaned often, but overall the cabin was clean, and well equipped.

This house has the most beautiful views to wake up to in the mornings. My friends and I spent the majority of our time here out on the porch! Incredibly steep gravel driveway though so be sure to have the right car for it!

We really enjoyed staying here on St. John’s Ridge. There were 2 families, 4 adults, ; kids and thus property was great.
Pros- the space was perfect to hang out with one another, kitchen is well stocked, mattresses are really comfortable, is was clean and prepared, there’s lots of games and beautiful views. We really enjoyed our time here and coffee and drinks on the decks.
Cons- a super steep drive way, we were fine and I think 90% of people visiting would be ok, but it’s important to know it’s a steep graded drive way. Upon our arrival the hot tub was not working, Blue ridge rentals were super helpful but it was disappointing to start off.
Overall it was a 5 star trip and we hope to return again!

With COVID going on we cooked and grilled more than we normally would do on vacation, which was great with the amenities on hand. We did truly love the nearby restaurant ‘Over Yonder' though! The covered decks & view were amazing and there is total privacy with this rental. Coffee in the morning and wine at night on the wonderful deck(s) was amazing even when it rained (and it did) it was heavenly! We love the area and this is a great home base to explore from and also relax enough to make this cabin ‘the entertainment' too. We enjoyed fires in the fireplace (you can request wood be delivered) mornings and evenings. We normally don't return to the same place twice but this cabin will definitely be the exception!

Expectacular experience, wonderful place with great accomodations and views. Well equipped. We created some great family memories on this beautiful cabin. We would definitely recommend for a romantic and family getaway. The peace is undescribable. Priceless!!! The Seven Devil family.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The view is wonderful. The house is perfect for three couples. Three floors— a bedroom and bath on each floor.
The description is correct: You need a four wheel drive vehicle. One couple had a 2 wheel drive and could not get up the driveway. Fortunately we found a place to leave their car during the stay.
I would like to be sitting on that porch right now!!

Really enjoyed the relaxation of this mountain cabin. Be sure to have a four wheel or all wheel drive for the driveway. Everything was as expected. Would definitely come back and recommend.

Great cabin, location,atmosphere. Able fly fish the Watauga River. Nearby Valle Crucis with well cared for community park and trail along river. The general store and over yonder restaurant are a must. We had a wonderful time and were sad to leave.

Very nice cabin. Traveling back home from Hilton Head and stayed here for 2 nights. Great location with wonderful views! Driveway is very steep but no issues. We were also able to fly fish the Watauga River. Cabin was well equipped and the hot tub was perfect for the kids.

St. John's Ridge is a cozy and comfortable cabin with a beautiful view of the valley below and surrounding mountains. The additional bonus of the Watauga River running through the valley and right in front of the cabin was spectacular. The moment you walk through the door that quintessential cabin smell and décor welcomes you. The cabin has everything you need and was very comfortable for 3 married couples. The two porches are wonderful and where you will spend lots of time and the hot tub was so much fun soaking and looking over the valley. The kitchen and dinning area were functional and with great views. The wood burning fireplace worked well and made the experience even more enjoyable. The road in front of the cabin is wonderful for walking and takes you by St. John's church built in 1860 and along the river; we loved our morning walks. This cabin was centrally located to all the local attractions we sought to enjoy (food, shopping, hiking, and skiing). If you are looking for a wonderful mountain getaway that will make you just want to slow down, enjoy the beauty of God's creation, and breethe-in that incredible mountain air; you have found your cabin. I would share that the driveway to the cabin is pretty steep in places with some twists and turns that even in dry or rainy conditions may challenge some. You will want a 4-wheel/All-wheel drive vehicle as front-wheel drive only could present some concerns if you are not used to getting up gravel drives like this. If there is any possibility of snow, 4-wheel drive is a must. We will be back to visit St. John's cabin again.

Great spot for our family of four. About 20 minutes from everything that we wanted to do (Grandfather Mountain, horseback riding, Tweetsie Railroad, and food!) Clean, well-kept, and comfy :)

This cabin did indeed offer a stunning view in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The cabin was clean and ready for our arrival. The location was convenient to the area ski resorts and walking distance to the river and historic St. John's Church. Our inter-generational family group of grandparents, parents and four grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed our winter vacation in the mountains. The driveway is steep, but we were aware of that prior to arrival.

One of the best views I've experienced; the contrasting red barn against the vibrant green is amazing to see every day. The outside fire pit was a great evening spent with the family.

This home is in a beautiful location and offers peace and quiet in a lovely cabin. Enjoyed sitting on the porch, overlooking a meadow with a pond, watching the deer and geese. We hope to return again. Highly recommend this home.

I've stayed at tons of places in the High Country and I think this is my favorite. The cabin was very clean and had everything anyone would ever need from completely stocked kitchen, towels, blankets ect. The beds were very comfortable and they was plenty of space for everyone. I would definitely recommend staying here.
