Description
Welcome to Shady Pines, nestled in the trees above Banner Elk. Guests are only 1.5 miles from the Banner Elk Winery and Villa and only 10 minutes to the town of Banner Elk.

This modern mountain home is the perfect retreat for a small group, sleeping eight guests. While the last 1/4 mile is a steep, gravel road, once you arrive, the parking area is flat and accommodates three or four cars easily. There is a single step to enter the main level. Once inside, you'll see the beautiful windows and view in the living room, where the leather sofa sits by the gas fireplace. The home features both smart TVs and SkyBest TV, so you can watch your favourite sports or movies. Beautiful tongue and groove ceilings bring a touch of the mountains inside. The dining is to the side, near the kitchen. The table boasts seating for everyone, comfortably holding eight guests. The kitchen centers on the granite island with oven. 

The main level has a large King suite with a TV. Attached is a bathroom featuring a tiled shower and a spacious double granite vanity. Upstairs is an open loft with seating and a bedroom with two twin beds. There is a full bathroom upstairs with a combination tub/shower with jets and a granite vanity. The lower level has a second living area and two more bedrooms. Each bedroom is a Queen with ceiling fan with a private door to the Jack and Jill bathroom. This is a tiled shower with double granite vanity. In the lower level is a large sectional for TV viewing plus an air hockey table and board games. The laundry center is also on the lower level with a full washer and dryer for guest use.

The home has two levels of outdoor decks, with the main level including a table and chairs, gas grill, and view of Grandfather Mountain. Step out to the lower deck and enjoy the seating and peace. On the main level grounds there is a fabulous fire pit with Adirondacks surrounding it. 

-This home is not pet friendly. Thank you for not bringing pets to this home.
-AWD/4WD is required for this home year round. In times of snow or ice, chains may also be necessary. The last 0.4 miles is a one way, gravel road with a steep incline.
- Firewood for the fire pit may be added at the time of booking under "Additional Fees" after entering payment info or by reaching out to us more than a week in advance. You get two wrapped bundles and a firestarter for $25/night.
- Guests returning to Shady Pines may receive a discount of 10%, not to be combined with other discounts to the room rent.

CANCELLATION POLICY - Bookings canceled 60+ days before arrival will receive a refund of the deposit. Bookings canceled between 31-59 days before arrival will receive a refund of half of the deposit. Bookings canceled within 30 days of arrival are not entitled to a refund unless the reservation dates are rebooked to another guest. All bookings are subject to a $50 cancellation fee.

Amazing cabin! We stayed for the holidays and didn’t want to leave. The cabin itself is tucked into the forrest so it’s the perfect getaway. Comfortably sleeps 8 people. Plenty of space with a great indoor and outdoor fireplace. The indoor fireplace is a propane and outdoor is with firewood.

This place is beautiful. It's private, has cell signal & WiFi, is decorated with style, has a huge downstairs living room, and fit all 7 people comfortably. We had Thanksgiving here and did not want to leave. The town of Banner Elk is like a hallmark town and we were able to walk several of the local trails during our stay. Blue Ridge provided starter sets for us of toilet paper, soap, etc and it was very much appreciated.

Our Thanksgiving stay at Shady Pines was a dream come true! From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in warmth and charm. Overall, we had a great trip staying at Shady Pines for our skiing weekend. Beech Ski Resort is only about a 25 minute drive away. The cabin was clean and ready for us early. With no snow in the forecast, the drive to the cabin was easy on the unpaved road. We were able to get there in a regular sedan (no AWD or 4WD) when the road was dry, but wouldn't risk it when wet. I wish they'd put some gravel on the road to make it an easier drive. Only major issues we had were several beeping smoke alarms and the toilets are all difficult to flush. We would definitely return.
