Great place to stay. Quiet, good location to access Local Areas like Boon, Blowing Rock or Jefferson. They are not kidding when they say watch the weather and make sure you have 4WD if there is any chance for snow. The Driveway is very steep and challenging in the snow. Place was clean and well equipped. Outside deck area was great as was the temperature and cleanliness of the Hot Tub. Beds were comfortable and water pressure was good. Lots of areas to gather with family or friends. Would recommend.

My husband and I came here for our honeymoon with our four dogs. It was a great place to stay and had a nice fenced in area for the dogs! We had an issue with the hot tub and they were out within an hour to take care of it. Very peaceful and beautiful view. The house is exactly like the pictures.

We needed to move our daughter into her new home in Boone as she starts her 2nd year at Appalachian State and bring our dog with us this time - so we looked at rental properties that were close to the school, allowed our Hazel to join us and gave us a bit of a sanctuary. We found it at River View Retreat! This place was beautiful - the views from the deck were breathtaking and the hot tub was just what our sore backs needed after the moving of furniture. This place is definitely off the beaten path - and the STEEP driveway to the house would definitely be intimidating in poor weather (but the owners warn of that!). We are now looking to see if we can go back when we visit our kiddo in the fall - I can only imagine the beauty of fall leaves!

Very scenic and quiet place to stay for a weekend! There was lots of great functional outdoor space including a fenced in dog run! You're only 15 minutes from DT Boone so also very accessible. Would definitely stay again!

This stay was magical for our Christmas vacation. To start the Airbnb had a Christmas tree in then living room and a loaf of bread as a gift when we checked in. The stay its self was so clean and cozy. The kitchen was perfect and had everything we needed to cook every night or our stay and make holidays meals and bake! The hot tub was so relaxing. When we had gas issues with the outside fire place they sent a tech out of Christmas Eve! The staff was extremely responsive. It was located about 15 mins from down town boone. The driveway was very steep but was fine in a care with all wheel drive. The stay was so nice we didn't mind being rained in for two days! We will be back for sure !

We loved our stay! The kitchen was well equipped, I loved all of the options for brewing coffee & making tea! We ate in every night & the kitchen had everything we needed. Plus the Blackstone was awesome! Our favorite hang out was the game room where we watched football & played poker. There were a lot of games to choose from. Beautiful and clean place. Great Deck layout/design and from the deck fun cooking out on the black stone , relaxing in the hot tub with the great views, and sitting out on the deck in the mornings with our coffees chatting.

We came to stay at this beautiful house to attend Grand Father Glows event that was on Grand Father Mountain. This house was the perfect location and the outside ambience with the incredible mountain views overlooking the River, is what made us want to stay here. Immediately when we pulled up, it exceeded our expectations. It was peaceful and serene. The inside of the house is so welcoming very nicely decorated. The beds are so comfy and the kitchen has everything and more than you would ever need to cook to your hearts content. We made some nice meals and sat on the top deck. The special thing that happened was we actually had fire flies fly to us and all around the trees on the property. We have been told that they come out end of June to early July. So if you stay there at this time, turn off all lights outside and sit on the deck to see them. They look like twinkling Christmas lights. Well designed deck and dog run to contain dogs. We will stay again very soon! You should too :)

The house was even more beautiful than the photo’s. This was by far the most dog friendly house I have ever stayed & loved all the fencing for them. We had the best stay here. It was very clean and had all the things you would need to cook and even towels for the hot tub. The driveway is very steep- so in the winter 4WD is definitely needed. The neighbor does expect you to be indoors by 10 PM, even if you are quiet outside. Other than that, we had a great stay and would love to return!

We loved this home. The communication was excellent prior to and during the visit. The views were spectacular and the directions brought us right to the home. Make sure to bring sunglasses if you are to be in the kitchen in the morning hours and it does get a little hot in the upstairs portion.

This house was really nice and had absolutely everything we needed....except coffee! We forgot ours. It has a fully equipped coffee bar, so make sure to bring your coffee and creamer with you. The kitchen was fully stocked with an abundance of cookware, glassware, and dishes. There was a really nice game room with many games for the family to enjoy. The view is beautiful. It was very peaceful here. The master bed was very comfortable. The only thing I would recommend is that you absolutely drive a 4 wheel drive vehicle as recommended in the listing and have tires that can handle icy roads if you are staying in the winter. The driveway is very steep with no guard rails along the edge and it was iced over in the morning due to that extreme weather crossing the country. We would love to return!

This was an amazing stay. It exceeded my expectations and was fully stocked with items and things we were glad to use. And the view was perfect. Just secluded enough to be away from everyone but close enough to enjoy busy boone nc.
