So many pros to this house:1. This house is RIGHT across from the Sportsman Lodge restaurant at Eagles Nest. It wasn’t open when we came (we knew ahead of time as we have friends who live in the neighborhood) but this is a huge plus not highlighted in the listing. 2. Also across from the house is a very easy .6 mile hike to a pretty waterfall..must do! 3. Another thing not described in the listing that is worth knowing.. there is a crib in the large master bedroom closet. We don’t need that anymore but there were days when that would have been a huge selling feature for us ;). 4. I loved the layout for younger kids…I liked that they were all upstairs and the house is small, so from the master, I still felt I had a good ear on them. 5. The fire pit area is more private than I anticipated and it’s closer to the house than it appears in photos. A couple of cons:1. The house is pretty far up the mountain, so going into Banner Elk is about a 20ish min drive. 2. This is probably to be expected for a dog friendly property but there was dog hair on the kitchen floor when I swept, and we shifted the couch to better see the TV (which feels mounted extra high), and there was a ton of dog hair under the couch (looks like furniture isn’t moved when vacuumed). Other than this things were very clean.3. The back porch was probably the deal breaker for me and why we won’t rent again. It was narrow and the rockers weren’t comfy at all. Personally, I like love a cozy mountain porch.

We had a fantastic stay at this cabin! It was exactly as described in the listing—clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The location was perfect, and the community was friendly and quiet. We loved that there were hiking trails just a short walk from the cabin, making outdoor activities easy and accessible. The kids had a blast playing the games provided during our downtime.We experienced quite a bit of snow during our stay, which made for some fun sledding down the hills near the cabin. There was a brief period when the roads to the cabin were closed due to snow, but the community had six plows working to clear the roads, allowing vehicles with 4x4 to get through. We simply drove into downtown Banner Elk for lunch while the roads were being cleared, which was a nice break.If you do go in the winter make sure you do have a 4x4 or AWD. Overall, it was an excellent stay, and we'd definitely consider re-booking for future trips!

Loved the cabin. Really enjoyed the hot tub and the kids loved the air hockey. Only complaint was the arcade machine was not working. Let the management team know twice and they said they would pass it on. No one came to fix it. The cabin was stocked with anything you would need to be comfortable. Also, loved the pavilion that you could walk to.

We had an awesome time at Little Cub Cabin and the responsive, flexible, and prompt service by Blue Ridge was 2nd to none. We rented the cottage for 3+ weeks and had multiple groups rotating thru and Blue Ridge was so helpful and accommodating. From helping us select the best cottage to helping all our needs. This was our second time staying at Eagles Nest, and all I can say is that if you are looking for a family destination in the North Carolina mountains you won't do any better than Eagles Nest. The amenities here are absolutely first class. And this house we stayed in made our week that much more enjoyable - it was clean, modern and readily met all our needs. And I will say that of the many times I have rented a STR, Blue Ridge Mountain Rentals, which manages this specific property, is as good as they come. They are quick to answer and respond to any issues, and they provide a lot of detailed information on the property that makes the stay that much more enjoyable. One caveat on this property - it is not as secluded as some of the other properties in Eagles Nest. And while this didn't bother us, any potential neighbors will be quite close. And while the property is a bit of a drive from the Eagles Nest main entrance, it is also very close (within walking distance) to some of the best amenities in the development - namely North Pavilion and the Eagles Nest winery. An awesome stay, and we would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We stayed for a long weekend, hoping to enjoy some skiing, but Mother Nature wasn’t in our favor. The house was well equipped, lots of entertainment for the kids, kitchen was stocked and furniture all very comfortable. The house was very clean and a perfect house for two families with kids. What a Place. Right away we felt at home! Beautiful surroundings and views. Directions if follow properly took us right to the house. GPS doesn’t take you there just like the email stated but maybe a GPS location pin sent in the email for future folks would be a good idea.

We enjoyed hiking trails just steps from the home and the Sportsmans lodge has a great fireplace to enjoy!! Air hockey and foosball were a huge hit. The paddles were broken but the rental group has new ones delivered in just a few hours!!

The house was well stocked with everything that we needed for our weekend. It was comfortable for two families to stay and there was plenty of outdoor area for the kids and dog to run around. The only thing that bothered us was when we arrived the outdoor trash bin was overflowing. We talked with the property management to address it as a snow storm was coming in and it was never address even though they said they would. This put us in a position of no where to put our trash during our stay. The other issue was we did get hit with a snow storm during our stay which shut down the mountain the house is on. The communication about this to renters was either late getting to renters or lacking in information. When trying to call them for information as well, due to their call volume it was difficult to get ahold of someone to identify if it was safe to get off the mountain.

We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin was absolutely beautiful and very clean. I cant tell you just how disappointing it is when you arrive to a dirty cabin. This was just a pleasant surprise and the entire family had a great time. I highly recommend staying at this beautiful cabin. The only downside was the garbage pickup or a lack of it. I had to drive and find a construction dumpster to dump our garbage as the service did not come out but once in a 12 day span. It was the holidays and I was told that the landfill was closed on one of the days so perhaps that is why. It was inconvenient but would not deter me from staying there again. I highly recommend.

Amazing property! I will say the drive once in the gates is not easy. It’s 5 miles of twists, turns and drops without guardrails. The written directions were accurate but unfortunately a construction truck was blocking the driveway and it was hard to find the house. Then I realized there was no cell service and many of the workers do not speak English. Being a single mom, with two kiddos and a dog and no cell to call the rental office for support gave me a little anxiety to say the least. The only way to make calls is through WiFi once in the house. No land line. Luckily we found it before dark and from that point on, the stay was beyond amazing. Well appointed kitchen. Very clean. Kids had a blast with the games and hot tub. I would definitely recommend this property just make sure to give yourself plenty of time to navigate the roads.

Wonderful cabin! What a hidden gem up here near Banner Elk. We did not know how much we needed this getaway until we got here. Our 2 kids loved the bunk room complete with TV and Video games - how fun! Even the grown-ups loved the game tables and old time video games. We explored the hiking trails, loved the sports court at North Pavilion and of course the fire pit and hot tub were a huge hit. We explored Linville and Grandfather Mtn - overall a wonderful trip to the High Country. Thank you for opening your home to us.

What a wonderful cabin! Our family has had the best time here. We rent a cabin in this area every fall and our boys (12 & 10) said this has been their favorite. We hope to get back in the summer. We enjoyed the trails, biking, basketball, the fire pit and the hot tub. And the views at The Sportsman Lodge are incredible. Enjoyed watching the sunrise here. Our boys (and mom & dad) loved the games and we had fun playing as a family. The house was clean and cozy. A perfect getaway, in fact, we stayed an extra night. 😊

This place is simply stunning. The rental (Little Cub) was perfect for our family. It was well appointed and clean, and we liked how the kids/teens could sleep and hang out upstairs with the game area available to them. A very efficient use of space overall. I'd recommend renting the ATV's for the whole time you are there as it's the best way to explore and generally get around. The hiking was just the right amount of challenging for our family, and the sports courts were a big hit too.

We had a wonderful time here at Little Cubs Cabin and were so thankful for a week away after a summer of staying close to home due to COVID. Our kids (7,4,2) loved playing out back, making s'mores on the fire pit and "swimming" in the hot tub. 😊 They also loved the bunk beds and games upstairs.
