Firefly was exactly what we wanted: privacy, high elevation, abundant wildlife, quiet, and clean. It's elevation above sea level is 4,330 feet, which basically assures comfort during the summer and early autumn.
We're a retired couple and decided to drive our Toyota Tacoma 4X4, and we're happy that we did. There is an area on the gravel road just before “Firefly” where our rear wheel drive needed the extra boost.
The area up Hickory Nut Gap Road is still undergoing maintenance to correct problems caused by last year's Hurricane Helene. We had no trouble getting through.

Property was absolutely beautiful, got over a foot of snow which is expected in the mountains. We had 2 4wd trucks and made it in and out pretty easily.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay at Firefly Cabin. It's a lovely cabin, with ample room for our group of four adults. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking meals - there was both a Keurig and a drip coffeemaker which was nice. If you were a larger group staying here, a little more silverware would be helpful. The long range view out the great room window is beautiful. Nice sized master - the bed a tad soft, but that's a matter of individual preference. We would most definitely like to stay here again!

Excellent property for our group of five, which included three teenagers and two dogs. We hiked at nearby grandfather mountain on the profile trail. We enjoyed the hot tub every evening! The property was very clean and well appointed. The property manager was available for questions at check-in and prior to check-in. It was a great experience.

We enjoyed our stay for skiing and snow tubing. The location was perfect for our daily trip to Sugar mountain.
The final driveway is pretty steep though and our minivan could not get up the hill after a snow. Definitely heed the warning about 4 wheel drive!

Everything was clean, and well functioning. Excellent experience, and when we had one issue with the keypad code it was resolved very quickly. 10 out of 10 would recommend, and would stay here again. THE VIEW!!!
**Quick note: in the snow, park, your vehicle at the top of the driveway. Caused a little bit of an adventure for us. :)

My husband and I stayed here just to enjoy the mountains for a few days. The cabin was very cozy and comfortable. Kitchen set up was very nice. Great view. Hot tub was especially nice after a day of hiking! Also enjoyed walking around the town of Banner Elk. Nice restaurant choices if you wanted to go out.

Loved Firefly cabin! It was so clean, the views were gorgeous, and less than 15 mins to Main St. The hot tub is fenced in within the porch, so that's a big help with pups. I highly recommend; we had a blast!

Firefly cabin was spectacular. Easily the best mountain view in the area. The drive up the road and driveway is certainly not for the faint of heart- but worth it. The cabin is immaculate and lovely inside with everything you need and we appreciated the starter supplies. Our kids loved the bunk bed room! The view is breathtaking from the inside, the deck, and from the hot tub. The keypad lock took any stress away from having to keep track of keys. The area is packed with activities and hike options and there's even a small public lake for paddling, swimming, picnicking at the bottom of the mountain (10 min drive). We fell in love with this place and would definitely stay again at this cabin!

This was the best Air B&B my sister and I have every stayed at! Somehow the pictures didn't do it justice – it was absolutely stunning. From the moment we were walked in it was squeaky clean —everything was spotless. It smelled great! The views were absolutely stunning. Everything was as described, but even better. This location is very peaceful & comfortable. Although the road to get here is very windy, the destination is worth it. Unfortunately, we didn't get to take advantage of the outdoor area because of the weather, we did enjoy views from the large picture windows. Would definitely stay here again!

Definitely has the best view of any cabin we have ever rented in the NC mountains! The location is very private with no other houses on the same street. The layout is perfect (no stairs!), the beds were very comfy, the rooms were big and well decorated, and everything was well stocked. We will definitely be back!

Great stay. View was beautiful. Beds were comfortable. We were there during winter weather, definitely needed 4wd as the roads are private and not treated for winter weather. Thankfully reminded of this upon booking. Short drive to skiing and restaurants! Would recommend!

The cabin was perfect for our family, a beautiful view! We started the weekend off with Fall and ended with a light dusting of snow. This is our fifth trip to this area and would definitely rent this cabin again!

The listing is very accurate! It was the perfect size for six people and two dogs. beds are comfortable, water pressure is good, views are wonderful, and the hot tub was perfect! you’ll need to bring some of the basic essentials as they don’t have a lot of back up for you (toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, etc) but everything else was provided. definitely recommend this cabin and would stay here again!

This property was exactly what we envisioned for a mountain retreat and ski trip. The cabin vibe was perfect with the cabin decor and the views of the mountains were amazing. The beds and pillows were comfortable with plenty of space for a family of five (and one fur baby). The living room and eating area had plenty of room for all of us. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking meals between activities. The cabin was close to all the winter activities planned (skiing, tubing, ice skating, etc...). The Food Lion grocery store was close to the cabin, so we didn't have to pack a lot of food and just picked up what we needed on our way to the cabin. The driveway to the cabin was indeed steep so make sure you have 4WD. However, this was outlined in the property description and was reflective of most of the cabins in the area. If you want to be in the mountains and a short drive from skiing, you have to be prepared to drive in the mountains. We loved the experience and our family will definitely be coming back! We had a blast!

Loved the cabin, well stocked kitchen, very clean, nice bathrooms. The mattresses were a little too soft and the propane tank for the fireplace ran out of gas. We were very disappointed that we couldn't have a fire the last night we stayed. Would stay here again and would recommend it.

Wow! We loved the cabin, the views and the location location location ! 15 minutes to Sugar mountain, And Down town Banner Elk Brewery and restaurants We had plenty of space to spread out and the kitchen was accommodating. Would stay there again
