Wonderful, beautiful house! It has absolutely everything you may need to relax and have fun at the same time. Very spacious, with great amenities. The location is perfect—close to ski options and other activities like Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster and the Otter Falls Trail.
We enjoyed our stay so much; it was truly perfect. The host was also very responsive—when we needed propane gas, we texted them and it was delivered almost immediately.

We enjoyed our weekend! Beautiful view and well equipped home. The coffee pot was not working correctly. It was unable to brew a pot and the single serve side brewed a cup without heating the water.

This was by far the best VRBO we have ever stayed at!! This house is beautiful and so well stocked. There was nothing that the owners hadn't thought of. The house was clean and comfortable and very welcoming. And the views!!! Highly recommend and we will be back!!

This was a very nice home. It felt open, airy, and the kitchen had all the utensils, pans, pots, and coffee choices you could ask for. The patio was wonderful with the gas grill and outdoor gas fire pit. The rental team were very responsive and accommodating. The towels were fluffy and everything felt peaceful in the area. It was what we needed! The basement game room was fantastic and the home also had lots of board games for entertainment. The neighborhood was friendly as well. As advertised, the driveway is very steep and so is the yard (it's on a mountainside). If you bring dogs, the outside yard area doesn't have level areas—we had to walk ours down the steep driveway and alongside the mountain road for potty breaks. If you rent for the views, it's all worth it.

We had an incredible stay! It was great for a family. There were games (including a ton of fun toys for toddlers/young kids), a high chair, a retractable baby gate at the top of the stairs, and more. The kitchen was well stocked. Views were beautiful. Would recommend without hesitation!

Our family had a great stay! Plenty of room for us, our adult children and their families and our fur babies. Well stocked with everything we could need for convenience and preparing meals. The fire pit and large deck were great gathering areas. Wineries, breweries, groceries and restaurants all nearby.

Amazing Cabin! Just beautiful! More than comfortably fit our party of 7 and it was just a short drive to most activities in the area. The driveway is, in fact, as steep as they say, but us Florida folk were able to manage it (in dry conditions). We somehow managed to fit two SUVs up there, but it was a tight fit for sure. The cabin was super clean and the starter supplies were great, especially the coffee! which was amazing given we couldn't stop for groceries on the way in as we arrived late at night. Overall, highly recommended!

I must admit that we very worried about our booking after reading the review from Jan 15. I am happy to report, however, that our experience could not have been more different than theirs. We LOVED First in Sugar!! It was one of the best rentals we've had. We had 12 guests for a birthday weekend and the house was perfect. The kitchen was so well stocked, there was an extra table and chairs, it was warm and cozy with the fireplace, and the beds were comfortable. We don't have little people, but there were many amenities that would have been nice for families with small children. We used the outdoor fire pit, hot tub and tubing was only 15 away. Communication with the rental company was great-before we arrived, during our stay, and afterwards. One thing I will mention is that they're not messing around with the description of a 4wd needed for the driveway. It snowed on our way in and we had a heard time getting up the driveway even with 4wd! We were plowed out the next morning by a friendly, accommodating landscape company, which made it easier to get up and down, but would still be very difficult without 4wd. We would definitely rent this house again and think that you should too! 10/10!

The only regret we had in renting this home was we didn't book a longer stay. There were 4 generations on this trip and the home was comfortable for all. The spectacular view, the visiting deer, the game room, and the hot tub made getaway extra special. We hope to rent again.

We absolutely loved sitting at the fire pit while enjoying the gorgeous view of grandfather mountain. All the beds were comfortable and the house well stocked with necessary supplies. The two 6-year-olds love the game room and even though it rained off and on there were board games to play, gas fire pit and hot tub on the deck to enjoy. The location was great with access to several wineries, some nice restaurants, live music, fun hikes with waterfalls and Tweetsie for the kids. Great family experience.!! Beautiful setting and house was clean and comfortable. We cooked Thanksgiving dinner here and kitchen was well equipped. Not enough snow for Sugar Mt to open so didn't get to snowboard, but enjoyed the hot tub! Saw deer every morning coming down the mountain behind the house while eating breakfast. A great week!

We spent most of Thanksgiving week at 1st at Sugar and could not have been more pleased with the property. It's a beautiful and well stocked house and was very clean. You are looking right at Grandfather Mt. for incredible views. Our 10 year old grandson loved the game room and hot tub! That came in handy when the ski slopes postponed opening for a week. It's a spacious house and we cooked not only Thanksgiving dinner there, but most of our meals all week. We were very comfortable and highly recommend this house. Appreciated constant communication with Blue Ridge Rentals making sure everything was perfect.

We had a great time at 1st in Sugar. The property was great and well located. We sold our home in Eagles Nest a year ago so it was great getting back to Banner Elk. Sugar Mountain is so easy and centrally located its a great place for first timers to Banner Elk.
